Maria Lake Master Anglers

nice lakerAngler/writer Mike Borger has worked hard to build up a solid and growing reputation with his website, blogs and now video. He is a VERY impressive angler and we predict will become an even larger presence in the fishing world.

We hosted Mike’s group of four at our Maria Lake mini-lodge June 4-11, our opening week. Fishing conditions were tough with cold temps, windy days and high water.  Despite these challenges, Mike and his group  landed 42 Master Anglers. Mike wrote a great blog on his website at   http://www.canadafishingguide.net/chasing-pike-in-the-wilds-of-northern-manitoba/. It recaps his trip with great photos and video and gives a nice overview of Ganglers.

Enjoy !

Still Time for 2016We still have a mix of great trips available at the main lodge and outposts. At the lodge, July  18-22, 22-26, 26-30, and August have some limited availability. Maria has some great spots open throughout July. Stevens is available July 23-30 and Bain has a few slots. Give us a call , drop us an email, and we will share some late season specials and get you into an awesome fishing trip.

Early Season Fishing ReportAn early ice out had us thinking we would see a jump on the early season patterns. However, a cool May and early June actually seemed to delay the fish patterns. It wasn’t until mid June we saw the pike moving into the shallows.  Despite all of it, it has been an exceptional start to the season. Incredible fishing with many 200+ fish days reported. One boat was first into a fly-out lake we fished minimally last year and caught over 400 fish.  Crazy ! Biggest pike so far is 48” (there have been a half dozen in that class) and laker was 45”. LOTS of Master Angler walleye too.
