Since the initial announcement over a week ago of the Canadian border reopening on August 9, 2021, we have been swamped with interest. As we wade our way through government pronouncements and policy, we are busily making our 2021 Canadian fishing season a reality for you! Here are a number of important guidelines we’ll share to ease your planning. You still have time to make a 2021 North Seal trip a reality. Do not miss another year!

KEY POINTS FOR PLANNING A TRIP TO CANADA AND GANGLER’S

Key points to assist crossing the Canadian border without a quarantine restriction when it reopens on Aug. 9, 2021.

COVID TESTING – US travelers entering Canada are required to show proof of a negative PCR Covid test result within 72 hrs. of crossing. Many US cities have clinics where no appointment is required and the test is free. The procedure is quick and results are often emailed to you within hours.

VACCINATIONS REQUIRED – US travelers entering Canada are required to show proof of full vaccination with all of the necessary shots completed at least 2 weeks before entering.

According to https://travel.gc.ca the accepted vaccines are:

  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
  • Moderna (mRNA-1273)
  • AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)

REENTERING THE US WHEN FLYING – All travelers reentering the US are required to show proof of a negative Covid test result within 72 hrs. of crossing. The US accepts the Rapid Test. Our expediter Nicole has made arrangements with a local clinic for guests to take their test upon the arrival back in Winnipeg. The site is VERY close to the airport and results are available in 15 min. The Winnipeg Airport is scheduled to have a facility onsite to also facilitate this in September.

REENTERING THE US WHEN DRIVING – No Covid test is required for US citizens reentering the US.

AIR TRAVEL – Air travel options are more limited with the border just reopening but they are available. Delta is scheduled to resume service to Winnipeg Sept. 13 and there are discussions with other carriers to move-in. We also have other air travel options which we can suggest, please call our office for more details. 1-866-51-LODGE

STAFF – All of our staff is vaccinated and will maintain safety precautions.

CONTROLLED CAPACITIES – The North Seal lodge will be limited to 70% capacity as we ease into reopening. The outposts will run at normal capacities as they are already configured to be limited in size. We have ample disinfectant at all Gangler’s destinations and all camp managers have been instructed on proper sanitary practices.

COVID POLICY – None of our 2021 guest will lose their payments if they miss their scheduled trip due to a Covid issue directly related to their trip. All payments will be credited to a year of the guest’s choosing.
