Ganglers Approved for ATR-72

Most guests are not aware of the challenges it takes to create and maintain a top-notch runway in the middle of the remote Sub-Arctic. Every spring, runways must be inspected and tested to ensure compaction rates that meet standards created by the airline industry. If that criterion is not met, the plane cannot land on the strip, plain and simple.

Ganglers has worked hard through the years to continually improve our runway. By doing so, we are now able to land larger, state of the art aircraft.  This spring, we achieved a critical distinction, as the only lodge airstrip in Manitoba approved to land an ATR-72. The 72 is a much larger version of its smaller sister, the ATR-42, which Ganglers has used for years. The differences are tremendous. The 72 can hold up to 56 passengers compared to 34 for the ATR-42 and fly direct to the lodge at faster speeds than the 42. Total trip time one-way is now just over 2 hrs. Ganglers was also just approved for Calm Air’s ATR-72-500 series, a plane noted as one of the finest large turbo props available with even more horsepower and faster air speeds.
