7 year-old Beau Grafton Jr. has it written all over him. Even at the tender age of 7, the lad is a fishing machine. Beau just finished visiting us with his dad Beau Sr. for a great trip at North Seal River Lodge. The boy is impressive. After a good 8 hr. day of fishing, there was little Beau, back out on the dock, casting away for hours. It was really a pleasure to see such a nice young boy with such a passion for fishing. Beau caught a lot of great fish in his four days with us but seeing the photo of him with his 42″ pike – a fish bigger than him- really puts his skills into perspective. We were fortunate to have a couple of real nice kids on that trip with Beau and Timmy Griego. We will share some of Timmy’s photos later but in the meantime, please enjoy these great photos of Beau. Early Ice-out, Cold SpringIce-out was early by at least a week, leaving us with expectations of pike filling the sun-soaked bays when we arrived. The truth was much different. A cold May coupled with higher water levels kept the water chilly and the pike were late moving into their traditional early season haunts. Fishing was still good but patterns different. The shallows have now been blessed by a few days and the large shadows continue to flood in. Lots of smiles coming in !!!
