“T-Day Special” – It’s a Family Affair

Thanksgiving is a Holiday about being with family and what better story to share than the Burke family’s Gangler’s fishing report.

Steve Burke and his family have been avid Gangler’s guests for many years, Steve’s children have now segued into several grandchildren.  A group of really nice people whose passion for world-class angling is second to none. The entire family FISHES HARD! The Burke family’s status in the angling world is actually quite renowned as Steve and his father were the originators of the North American Fishing Club, an organization with 440,000 members and well-known for its monthly magazine and great TV show.   After a two-year delay due to Covid, the Burke family finally made their return to Gangler’s in late July 2022 and were joined by first -timers sister Linda with her husband Mike. Mike also entertained lodge guests by playing some mean blues guitar.

Steve recently shared this nice note and photos.

“After a three-year hiatus due to Covid shutdown, the Burke clan was finally able to return to Gangler’s in 2022. This year my sister and her husband were along for the first time.

We fished later in the season this time with results no less spectacular. While we didn’t have the quantity of fish per day as early season had produced the size was definitely much larger on average. We had many days of 40 inch plus northerns and my sister Linda landed a trophy 40+ inch laker.

My son Mike and I have been coming up since 2007 and I thought you might like to have the picture of Mike’s 47 inch northern from 2007 to see the continued joy Gangler’s still brings out.

In all the years we’ve been coming no one has ever caught a whitefish until this year. Tom caught a 22-inch trophy while going for grayling. Sorry for the blurry picture. I’ll see if I can also get you a video of Linda catching her big laker.

We eagerly look forward to our next Gangler’s trip.

Here are pictures of many of our big ones.”
