Maria offers the best of both worlds. Our unique concept combined a small lodge-type setting with the relaxed, unguided atmosphere of an outpost camp. Although others have since tried to copy the concept, Maria Lake continues to be Canada’s little hidden jewel. It is a great camp in a gorgeous setting on an incredible body of water.
This watershed offers anglers access to all four of the major game fish of Northern Canada. Giant pike and monstrous lake trout inhabit these waters and the lake has produced thousands of Master Angler entries.

Maria Lake is the headwaters of the legendary North Seal River, combining every quality that makes the North Seal such an outstanding fishery.
Big pike abound here with average size 5-10 lbs. and numbers can exceed over 100 a day per boat .
Trophies ranging from 35-42″, and some real monsters up to 49″ (that’s a 50 lb. lake trout)!
Walleye are available by portage although the occasional Master Angler is caught in Maria.
The largest grayling ever caught here was 24″ and 14-18″ fish are the norm. Fish the outflow and inflows of the North Seal, incredible grayling habitat, from the boat or shore.
Trophy whitefish or burbot are key part of the fishery. Not our main quest but they offer an interesting alternative.
Portage lakes include a small lake on the North Seal River with one inflow and two outflows, Wiedenhammer for walleye, and Caron and Kudzina for incredible trophy pike and lake trout.
