Winter Caretakers Report 2024 Volume 2
Greetings from the North Seal !
One month in Manitoba, the beginning of November and Mother Nature has provided a winter wonderland this week with a solid three inches of fresh powder snow !
While pretty quiet this week, our first week alone here at Ganglers introduced us to the local wolf population. Two wolves arriving to camp daily at 8:45am for a stroll through , making their presence known. No harm no foul, we enjoyed the up close view throughthe cabin windows. They seem to lose interest after a few days as their daily visits ended, leaving us with the odd morning tracks on the edge of camp here and there. It wasn’t until the full moon last week we heard them once again, with more than a few howling away into the night .
The whiskey jacks have also made their presence known, an avid bird nerd I have crossed hand feeding one off my wish list, but also now have a new shadow everywhere I go …usually with a nut or treat in my pocket.
We continue to enjoy the quiet beauty here at Ganglers and look forward to seeing what comes next!
Expecting the temperatures to start dropping into the double digits next week as the lake continues to freeze and we look forward to some fishing .
